San Ysidro Health and Care View Health Center Merge Operations
Providing Telehealth and general medical care services in expanded service area in Southeast San Diego during COVID-19 pandemic

Effective June 1, 2020, San Ysidro Health and Care View Medical Group., a local private practice located at 292 Euclid Ave #210, San Diego, California, United States, have formally merged their operations, creating a system of health care for more than 105,000 individuals across San Diego County. Under the San Ysidro Health network, Care View Medical Group has been renamed Care View Health Center.

Care View Health Center was founded by Dr. Rodney Hood and the late Dr. Richard O. Butcher, two prominent providers and leaders in medicine, in 1980 in Southeast San Diego. Dr. Hood and Dr. Butcher are pioneers in establishing a system of care and providing essential health services for residents and families in the area. In addition, both providers have been champions of health for vulnerable families through their advocacy work, establishment of the Multicultural Health Foundation, mentorship of other doctors, participation in organizations such as the National Medical Association, and much more.

“After 40 years of private practice serving the community of Southeast San Diego, I am delighted to have the Care View Health Center (formally known as Care View Medical Group)  join the San Ysidro Health  family,” said Rodney Hood, M.D. CEO and Managing Partner at Care View Medical Group. “My deceased partner, Dr. Richard Butcher and I co-founded Care View Medical Group with the vision and passion to serve the community of Southeast San Diego with the same values practiced by San Ysidro Health, to deliver high quality and equitable health care for our underserved community.”

Through this partnership, San Ysidro Health and Care View Health Center will have an opportunity to provide a wider range of comprehensive health services to patients.

“Our organization is grateful and excited to have Care View Health Center join the San Ysidro Health family,” said Kevin Mattson, president and CEO, San Ysidro Health. “We look forward to honoring the legacy of Dr. Hood and the late Dr. Butcher and work together to continue to respond to the healthcare needs of the communities we serve during these unprecedented times.”

Why is Care View Health Center now part of San Ysidro Health?
For San Ysidro Health the decision to partner with Care View Health Center was an easy one. It’s part of our organization’s DNA, our mission is to improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve with access for all.

We believe everyone deserves accessible and high quality health care services and San Ysidro Health is committed to provide essential care and support to working families across San Diego County.

Our organization was founded by seven mothers in search of medical services for their children and was as named in honor of San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers, day laborers, and rural communities. San Isidro spent his life as a hired hand and always shared what little he had, even his meals, with people in need. These values of compassion and care for others still ring true for our organization and our daily work in the communities we serve reflect that.
