VISION: Latino communities will benefit from continuous health promotion/health literacy services as a means to educate and empower individuals and families about healthy lifestyles and evidence-based health promotion measures, such as dietary practices, family-centered physical activities and active mental exercises.
BARRIERS: Limited public health resources often result in inadequate infrastructure for robust health literacy/promotion activities in Latino communities. In addition, the absence of culturally competent health literacy/promotion programs compounds access barriers typically experienced by Latino populations.
CHARGE: To develop a strategic blueprint for improving health literacy/health promotion for Latinos of all ages that includes essential education messages in a culturally proficient and easily accessible manner. |
